Memorial to John Watkins

John was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in March 2007, a devastating blow, particularly as we had already lost our mother to MND in 1983. He faced his illness and increasing disability with immense courage and remained positive throughout. Despite his illness John participated in a sponsored walk to raise money for the MNDA. I know he would like to think his memorial could help continue that fund raising and one day give us a world free from MND.

Memorial to John Whelan.

John and I shared with our other siblings, the heartbreak of losing our beloved parents during the last few years. I am so thankful they are not here to share in ours now. His last few years were amongst his most stable and happy and those who grieve for him now have this to comfort them in the difficult days ahead. I feel privileged to have had him as my big brother and have not yet begun to contemplate the enormity of his loss.
